Wylicza on spisy załóg zamków w Królestwie Walencji, w wielu z nich trzymano jeden do kilku psów bojowych. Koszt utrzymania jednego to połowa kosztu piechura (50-60 sous do 100-120 sous dla żołnierza). Z dokumentów może wynikać że opiekunami psów mogły byc nawet kobiety. Brak jest przykładów użycia z tego okresu. Jest za to przykład z okresu późniejszego:
