czesc, my name is Omar Miguel, im an argentine writer. because of my trips to, and friends from Poland, i will start a book with stories of it. all of them in different places of Poland. i already made one when i was in Olsztyn, and i want to make more, with some ideas i already have. but i want to make them as accurated as possible. thats why i need the help of people who studies seriously this subject. for instance, im already developing a story about a young boy from Wadowice of 1934. but i found so few info, that i feel desperated =)
the same with other stories, like Kraków in 16/17 century. does somebody knows he history of Kościół Mariacki? my story will happen around and inside of it, but my info is also extremely limitated.
i wonder if some of the people in here could feel interested in discuss these subjects with me, in msn or gg. i have many questions about different moments and places of Poland. and my books and internet are so blur.

hi, i need to know several things about it, for instance: what kind of people went there in those times (16 and 17 century) everybody? just people from high class and educated or also peasants? when i was there i saw some chains in a side, those that are used to enchain people, a girl in there told me priests got prisioners. its strange, because its in the outside. but well, in time we change a lot our way of thinking. i would like to know how looked like a normal day in Mariacki those days.

OK, first of all, the Marian Basilica was the main church of town, i know that it's strange but cracow's cathedral is on the Wawel Hill, in neighbourhood of the Royal Castle. So, Marian Basilica was for primarily townsmen. The Furnishings of the Church speaks that it was built by the Patricians, and for them, the noblest rank in the town. I don't remamber exactly, but taking the seats in the church connected to the social status of a particular person, in other words: everybody knew his/her place.

The Chains in the front of the Basilica are remains of the town's justice with no connection to priests except the proximity of the church  . For example: after a thief had been catched, he/she was enchained in front of the main place in the town for everybody could see him/her.

good, thanks =) so i can guess other punishments were also public. i remember this girl told me that even a prostitute could be enchained there. but only her of course, the man wouldnt be even named
